PetrisWINDS Recall SIGMA

SigmaPetrisWINDS Recall SIGMA is the interactive borehole stability software package which can evaluate the stability of a potential borehole trajectory, or it can use observed breakout information to constrain the characteristics of the far-field stress tensor. It can also assess observed fractures and faults for critical stress.

Within SIGMA the user can modify stress variables very quickly, or can elect to use curve data directly from PetrisWINDS Recall to supply input values at target depths.

Whilst the SIGMA module provides solutions for all possible trajectory directions at a given depth, the implementation of the SIGMA algorithms in LOGSCAPE permits continuous depth-by-depth solutions for a given planned trajectory.

SIGMA is fully integrated with the IMAGE suite of PetrisWINDS Recall applications, and information about observed or predicted breakout or tensile features, or potentially unstable fractures, can be passed seamlessly between applications. Observed breakout parameters for use in SIGMA can be captured interactively directly from (acoustic) image logs using Image Display, or calculated automatically from caliper elongation for 4 or 6 arm tools using the dedicated Breakout module.
