RESMOD – Horizontal Well Reservoir Model

The time and cost needed to qualify reservoirs for horizontal development using numerical simulation methods can be excessive. RESMOD is an analytical reservoir screening model developed by MTI that allows quick comparison of production from different types of wells (horizontal, vertical, fractured, etc.) using basic reservoir parameters. Candidates for further detailed investigation can then be easily identified. In side-to-side comparisons, RESMOD has shown excellent correlation with numerical simulators for several cases.

Advanced Engineering Features

  • Calculates oil and gas production rates, total production, net daily income, and net present value for a combination of vertical, fractured vertical, and horizontal wells (up to five well types)
  • Performs standard or multi-variant (statistical) analysis
  • Calculates and compares production data from different reservoir types
  • McGuire & Sikora, Pratts, and Tannich & Nierode hydraulic fracture models
  • Joshi and Hall formation skin models
  • History matching of available cumulative production data

Cost Saving

  • Provides rapid reservoir screening to find candidates for further analysis with reservoir simulators
  • Enables economical analysis of exploitation options
  • Enhances operational efficiency

Easy to Use

  • Step-by-step problem solving approach
  • Can create MS Office reports
  • Advanced graphics can be exported to any Windows program
  • S.I., Oilfield and mixed units

Several well types and geometries can be modeled, with options for two skin models and three hydraulic fracture models.

RESMOD has shown excellent correlation with commercial reservoir simulators.

Production and economic analysis of well-design options is made easy with RESMOD.
