DrillPath – Drillpath Planning and Pipe Design Model

Guided horizontal drilling has become one of the most popular trenchless techniques for the installation of many types of utility lines. To aid engineers and planners in the design process, Maurer developed a suite of PC-based software programs comprised of DrillPath, DrillMud and DrillEst. Together these programs represent one of the most comprehensive and powerful software tools for designing and constructing high quality, cost-effective utility installations using HDD directional drilling technology.

DrillPath allows users to automate their design processes for projects that utilize directional drilling. The computer program can design the drill path and calculate construction loads for plastic and steel pipes installed using mini-, midi- or HDD guided drilling systems. New features added to the program include two-dimensional auto-route generation and improved graphics.

Surface/Drill-Path Module
Input location and elevation for the proposed site. Obstacles to avoid can also be entered in this module.

Pipeline Load/Stress Module
For plastic pipe, analyze the internal and external pressure, installation tension and installation tensile stress. For steel pipe, analyze the installation tension and installation tensile stress.
