PetrisWINDS Recall Overview
PetrisWINDS Recall is the industry-leading solution for handling, storing and processing well bore data. It is established as an industry standard database with many clients adopting Recall at a corporate level.
The design of PetrisWINDS Recall is the result of the integration of geological, geophysical and petrophysical data in a geoscientific environment and its scope extends well beyond the simple wire-line well log data. The system provides comprehensive history tracking, identifying work flow, and maintenance of key environmental information. One key feature of PetrisWINDS Recall is its tight coupling with a number of applications and utilities; click the link above for PetrisWINDS Recall G&G Applications to learn more about these industry-leading applications and utilities for the processing, analysis and viewing of well bore data.

Flexibility
PetrisWINDS Recall is highly flexible, as evidenced by the unrestricted sampling frequencies and data types stored within a Recall database. Projects may contain any combination of singly or multiply sampled records of continuous or discrete data, referenced by depth or time. Furthermore, any records may be extended at any time. There is no logical limit to the number of fields, wells or curves which may be held in a PetrisWINDS Recall database.
As a dynamic system, Recall is capable of maintaining data in original format, ensuring zero loss of data integrity. Furthermore, its ease of integration with other databases guarantees an unrestricted and low cost growth path for corporate users.
PetrisWINDS Recall databases have been constructed which contain more than 50,000 wells with more than a million data curves. Project manager tools and extensive multi-well processing capability assist with the management of this ever growing volume of data.
The PetrisWINDS Recall package supports storage, retrieval, display, and copying of a very broad range of downhole data types, including:
- Conventional, regularly sampled wireline data
- Core data and special core analysis
- Repeat Formation Tester
- Mud logs
- Borehole images
- Waveforms, including NMR
- Depth-based images core photographs, autocar, goniometry
- Point images thin section, SEM, CAT scan
- Zones and zonal attributes
- Attributes and history information
Data may be stored online by PetrisWINDS Recall for instant access and display. Alternatively, Recall's archival functionality can be used to store large volumes of data offline or near online.
Scalability
PetrisWINDS Recall embodies a fully scalable architecture. There are no limits on the number of tables in any database, and performance does not degrade as database size increases. A database with 10,000 wells is retrieved as quickly as a database with one well. Due to the Recall package's unique scalability, it may be deployed in a variety of ways.
- Single-well application data store
- Project data store
- Corporate data store
- National archive repository
- Editing Utilities
Extensibility
The integration with PetrisWINDS Enterprise
adds new capabilities to the well-accepted RECALL interface. This
makes PetrisWINDS Recall the most open well bore data management
system in the world, with two-way access and the largest
integration footprint available today. The new capabilities include:
- Enhanced web-based access to RECALL data, and improvements in the
graphical user interface that simplify the process of locating data
- A GIS implementation for search, allowing users to view and zoom in on
data using a familiar map interface
- Full scale integration with PetrisWINDS Enterprise that enables two-way
movement of data between RECALL and a range of other applications
- Implementation of relational database access to the RECALL Database
- Provision of a Relational Database view of the RECALL Database with full
SQL support
Companies have the option to use a version of PetrisWINDS Enterprise called
‘Archive’ and designed specifically for coupling with a single data source, such
as the PetrisWINDS Recall. The Archive version has the ENTERPRISE architecture
with the ability to seamlessly upgrade to more fully featured integration
products as a company’s needs expand.
Security
PetrisWINDS Recall 5.2 features a hierarchical User and Group
based security model with access being controllable on all
tables.
Data Editing
PetrisWINDS Recall provides an extensive suite of data editing utilities:
- Merge, splice or edit curves or logs
- Data filtering, discrimination, range clipping and de-spiking
- Normalization and recalibration of data
- Depth shifting with automatic and/or interactive depth matching
- Resampling of recording frequency
- Expression evaluation
