    PetrisWINDS DrillNET DrillNET in Journal of Petroleum Technology

    PetrisWINDS DrillNET, our drilling and completion-engineering software framework, was recently featured in the 'Technology Applications' section of the April edition of the Journal of Petroleum Technology. The article highlights DrillNET's networking capability which allows for data to be shared, stored, and reused among system users to promote collaboration.

    David Archer Petroleum Industry Experts Lecture Series

    On April 15, University of Houston's College of Technology launched its Petroleum Industry Experts Lecture Series, underwritten by Halliburton, by hosting a luncheon at the M.D. Anderson Library's Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion. Approximately 100 people attended the event which featured a lecture on the Digital Oilfield as presented by Petris' own, David Archer.

    David's talk examined the current condition of the petroleum industry and explained why the time is now right for digital oilfield technology to be integrated into more areas of the business. He also discussed a number of energy-related software systems being adopted by the industry and their implications on reducing costs and adding value.


    Newspaper - extra extra Managing Authoritative Data Stores

    Last month at PNEC, Saudi Aramco presented a paper co-authored by Jeff Pferd and Abhijeet Narvekar from Petris titled "Managing Authoritative Data Stores." The paper stresses the need for proper management of data stores in order to provide reliability and preserve important technical knowledge. This is especially true regarding long-lived assets when you take into consideration the enormous return to the owners.

    Every issue, PetrisNEWS features an individual within the company. This issue features Graham Cain who handles Professional Services in the Eastern Hemisphere.

    Name: Graham Cain

    Hometown: I was born in London.

    What I do at Petris: I am responsible for Professional Services in the Eastern Hemisphere and also act as project lead on Project Monitor, Dashboard, and geospatial projects.

    Tenure at Petris: I joined 7 years ago when GeoNet Services Inc. was combined with Petris.

    Education: All of my schooling was done in London; after graduating from Alleyn's school in Dulwich I attended Nottingham University where I earned a degree in Mathematics and graduated with honors.

    Childhood ambition: I've long held an interest in statistics and figured that working as an Actuary would be an ideal job...until I actually worked as one and fully realized how uninteresting the job was.

    My first job was: I took a job right out of university with the BP Group doing mathematical modeling for management decision making.

    Biggest challenge: My biggest challenge is making sure my three children walk out my door fully equipped to face the battle.

    Indulgence: It has to be my children - I can't say 'No' to them...and they know it.

    Inspiration: In my working life, I've found the best inspiration has come from finding what someone else has done in a similar context and start from there.
